Unfold Amsterdam Illustration

Illustration and page layout

This is another bespoke illustration and page layout design, this time for Unfold Amsterdam, made to accompany an article on the perceived death of cinema and the cinematic experience as a whole. I wanted to re-create the feeling I used to get when watching the monster movies of old  – where a misunderstood creature rampages through some metropolis until brought down by means man-made or otherwise. Big stuff. Heavy. Exciting. Yet a little corny. And in this case our Godzilla becomes a metaphor for the movie-experience itself as it rampages fruitlessly in front of a captive audience.

Cinema dead? I believe all the art-house theatres, film festivals and midnight screenings are proof it will never die. At least not in my lifetime anyway.
